Under the NHS Pharmacy Contraception Service, our pharmacist can now assess you and supply the hormonal contraceptive pill directly — no GP appointment needed.
This service is for two groups of patients:
During your consultation, our pharmacist will talk through your medical history, take your blood pressure (and BMI, for the combined pill), and discuss the different contraceptive options available — including methods that may be more effective, such as a coil or implant, in case those are a better fit for you. Everything is confidential, and if you're under 16, we'll make sure you get a bit of extra support and privacy as part of the conversation.
Our pharmacist will confirm which option is suitable for you and whether the pill remains the right choice, based on your health and medical history.
If you've had unprotected sex in the last 5 days, Coppice Pharmacy can provide free emergency hormonal contraception (EHC) — no GP appointment, no prescription charge, and no judgement.
There are two types of emergency contraceptive pill, effective for slightly different lengths of time after unprotected sex. Our pharmacist will talk you through your options in a private consultation and recommend the right one for you.
Just come into the pharmacy and ask to speak to our pharmacist — you don't need to book in advance, and for emergency contraception we'll always try to see you as quickly as possible. You'll be seen privately in our consultation room, and everything you discuss is treated in confidence.
